This place is a classic southern cooking restaurant in downtown Blue Ridge. The food was absolutely outstanding. I had the fried chicken and it was the best I have had in a long time. A friend had the po-boy and another had the chicken fingers. Everything was fresh and hot. Service was great too. I will be back with the family for sure. Don't wait on me though, go ahead on up there and get that fired yardbird for yourself! Southern Charm absolutely lived up to its name and was one of the best meals I’ve had while visiting Blue Ridge. The experience starts on the welcoming front porch, where you check in for seating. Once your table is ready, they call your name and escort you inside. Even on a busy Friday afternoon, the process was organized and efficient. For my appetizer, I ordered the half order of fried green tomatoes, and they were outstanding. The tomatoes were perfectly seasoned, fried golden brown, served piping hot, and accompanied by a delicious homemade horseradish sauce. The half order included four generous slices—more than enough to share with two or three people. For my entrée, I chose the Smothered Country Chicken. The fried chicken breast was cooked perfectly and topped with sautéed mushrooms and a rich white gravy. My sides were red mashed potatoes and green beans, both seasoned wonderfully and packed with flavor. Every bite tasted like true Southern comfort food. The complimentary biscuits deserve a special mention. They were served warm with butter and a delicious fruit preserve that tasted like homemade apple butter. Absolutely incredible. The service was five-star from start to finish. The staff were very attentive, friendly, and efficient, and my food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being completely full. It’s obvious that the owners and management run a tight ship. Everyone on the team seemed focused, professional, and genuinely happy to be there. I also appreciated their house policies, especially requiring all members of a party to be present before seating. On busy days, that helps keep things moving smoothly and ensures everyone is treated fairly. I enjoyed my meal so much that I ordered a slice of turtle cheesecake to go for later that evening. If you’re looking for authentic Southern cooking, generous portions, excellent service, and a restaurant that clearly takes pride in what they do, Southern Charm is a must-visit. It’s conveniently located in downtown Blue Ridge within easy walking distance of the train depot, and there is plenty of free street parking nearby. Just be aware that the parking lot immediately next door is a paid lot and is not affiliated with the restaurant. Southern Charm was bustling with customers during my visit, and after one meal it’s easy to understand why. I’ll definitely be back for another lunch—and next time, I plan to try breakfast as well.
