I dined here for my birthday and the food and service was amazing!! My waitress Fatima was such a wonderful, attentive and kind young lady, she truly made my birthday feel all the more special, I had the lamb chops and they were so juicy and tender. I also had the Mac and cheese which was a tad too salty but still good nevertheless. The key lime pie was the best I’ve had in a while. I’ll definitely be returning! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $90–100

Southern Chicago was definitely worth the visit. We had a reservation for four and arrived a little early, but we were still asked to wait until exactly 4:00, even though the restaurant appeared pretty empty. I assumed they may have been waiting for the next shift of servers to come in. There were two women at the front. The young lady in the black dress was pleasant. However, the woman in the floral dress did not have a pleasant attitude at all. That being said, the rest of the staff was amazing. From the gentleman who opened the door for us, to the young lady who seated us, everyone else was welcoming and accommodating. Our original table was a little too small, and she had no problem moving us to a beautiful, spacious booth. Our waiter, Malik, was amazing and provided great service. Now the food? 10/10. Everything was flavorful, beautifully plated, hot, and fresh. I had the salmon with mashed potatoes, spinach, and greens with turkey. My husband had the seafood pasta, and we also tried dessert, which was amazing. The restaurant was clean, beautiful, and had a great atmosphere. Despite the experience with the woman in the floral dress at the front, the rest of our experience was excellent. I will absolutely be going back. If you’re in Chicago and looking for a good Southern-style restaurant in the South Loop, Southern Chicago is definitely worth trying. It was worth the wait.
