When we requested tap water for the table, we were instead given and charged for a bottle of water. The cost of a bottle of water at the table was over €5, and a cranberry juice and sparkling water was €6. The room was VERY noisy, with industry traffic sounds all through the night (not just in the daytime) as the road outside is used regularly by heavy vehicles, lorries, and busses. The walls of the room were very thin also, and let in a lot of interior noise from other guests and staff. No A/C, so the room was VERY warm and difficult to sleep. Small shower. Reception were helpful and waiting staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice, with pastries, some hot food, and cereals, cheeses, etc. Not much of a view from the window. Just a view of another hotel's balcony and their happier-looking customers. We're using a company that organises our hikes and moves our luggage to hotels for us, and the other hotels put the luggage in our room before we arrived. But this hotel left our cases in the middle of the lobby for anyone to claim. Not a great impression. EDIT: Following this review's reply from the hotel - I have updated the review a little. Heavy vehicles, industrial or not, were making noise throughout the night. I'm shocked to read that the luggage being left somewhere in the lobby was blamed on the company we booked to deliver it. It would never be the job of a luggage taxi to deliver the luggage to the room when only the hotel or the customer should ever have access to the room. And the luggage was in the center of the lobby, not even behind the reception desk when we arrived; to the point where I was able to access and check my own suitcase before I'd even checked into my room. I mention the view from the window given that it's a request from Google Reviews service to comment on this. A lot of positive reviews for the hotel don't mention the road noise, etc, probably because their bedrooms overlook the little river in town and aren't adjacent to the road. The other negative reviews definitely tend to mention the road noise. It's impossible to know whether this hotel will put you in a roadside room when you book. Seeing as the hotel's review reply mentioned that customers of other hotels may be happy to see the aesthetic of the Sporthotel Dachstein West, the hotel front is due some cleaning and attention compared to some of the others in town. I'm unhappy to see such an immature reply to my review, lacking any form of responsibility for the comments I brought up. I stayed in a new hotel every night between Golling and Bad Goisern on my hiking trip to Austria and this one has fallen far below the ratings of the others we stayed at, and given the reply to the review being written by somebody who seems to think there are no issues, I'm removing a star from my rating due to poor service. Food & drinks: Takes advantage of a lack of options in town to make their menu and drinks highly expensive. A bottle of water should not take the larger half of a ten euro note. We are very sorry that the price of the 1 liter Gastein sparkling mineral water bottle does not meet your expectations. On the other hand, you will find few hotels that offer sparkling 1 liter Gastein mineral water bottles for less than €5. Since the Sporthotel Dachstein West is located in the center of Annaberg-Lungötz and the main road also passes here, there can be street noise at certain times. However, there is usually no industrial traffic at night. Our partition walls are made of normal brick walls. So far we haven't heard from any guest that you heard everything from the adjoining rooms. If you felt that way, we are very sorry. Since we are in the center of Annaberg-Lungötz, what view do you expect here? The fact that the guests on the other balcony looked so happy could be related to the fact that they saw our beautiful hotel. We don't leave the luggage in the lobby, it's the company you booked through. But we will gladly accept your suggestion to bring the luggage to the room in the future.
