As a Food and Beverage professional for over 45 years , I believe I qualify to make this opinion . I’ve worked for some of the best in this business , and some of the worst. End of the day it’s a business to make money…..we all would agree.
Most of your bar staff are extremely pleasant , helpful , willing to make suggestions…..just all in all make a great appearance and we never hesitate to sit at the bar before we sit at table service.
Food , we eat at all the Waterfront restaurants from Squid Lips In Melbourne to Ocean Grill in Vero Beach. Most of the food in these establishments , are ok , some better than others. We are fine , we are definitely not food snobs.
The point of my comments is:
Really , your gonna charge me a 3% percent fee as a surcharge , for what ?
I’m not talking about the credit card purchase fee to cover your transaction fees , which most operators got on the bandwagon with. As an operator myself , again it’s a cost of doing business I understand. Most smarter operators maybe raise their price in small increments , just to offset credit card authorization charges, and not anger their guests.
What is the 3% surcharge now that was on my check , while paying cash ?
* I asked the bartender , I was answered with “ the manager says when people ask, it’s to pay for the help , and to pay for new building. Is that even legal ?
What’s next , A Cover charge to get in ??
I always treat your bartenders with a 30% plus tip , and never have a any issue otherwise.
End of the day , it’s only a couple bucks , I probably spend $1000 a month there
Sorry to say I probably will not be returning. Some people it may not bother , I’d assume that’s what you count on.
I split my time at my home here and home up north, I was a frequent guest at Squid Lips………no more.
