Went to Chorlton for a break with family following surgery. Seriously wished that we had checked out alternatives to this place before committing to a seat. We were expecting a real ale bar or micro pub looking at the exterior and various advertising outside but once inside, it was clear that the place had no identity, selling most of the common pump ales that you see in Weatherspoons with very few options for the craft beer fraternity. The sound system was clearly too big for the venue and perhaps more suited to a large club or small arena. You only begin to realise this when you’ve heard your third Lizzo song at 10000 decibels. Also, the music appeared to be a self indulgent, personal playlist as there was little variety, just the same chavvy 208bpm tunes with different lyrics. No opportunity to talk or converse or for that matter, even think!!! Went to the Chorlton tap afterwards. Now there’s a pub that gets it right. Great beers and ciders, good atmosphere, nice background music and a nice ambiance My advice to Strange Brew is, get down to Cash Converters and trade in that PA for a smaller one, get some decent and varied compilation CDs and find some decent local breweries to supply your drinks. Better still, kick out the music altogether, clear the entrance of drunken, foul mouthed harpies and chavs or hire door staff to keep orde, then get CAMRA to inspect, promote and endorse you Your trying to be something you’re not and it’s not working. There’s so much scope and potential here but all you are is an overpriced Weatherspoons for people who’ve been kicked out of Weatherspoons or who are waiting for a table at one of the crowded restaurants over the road, which is how we found ourselves being in here. Don’t usually do reviews but felt I had to on this occasion as the place is that bad. Kid-friendliness: You simply wouldn’t bring children here due to the bad language and the volume although a lot of the drinkers appeared underage so I suppose it’s kid friendly to them Wheelchair accessibility: No possibility of getting in here with any kind of disability. Steps are blocked with people drinking and generally being a nuisance. Place is a fire hazard Price per person: £10–20 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We have a ramp not steps and the music we play is predominantly motown, disco and classic 70's rock, played at a resonable level. We also have over 75% craft beer on cask and keg, most of it local. We operate a strict challenge 25 policy and all staff are trained to ask for ID. We are also over a ten minute walk away from The Chorlton Tap, so that is unlikely to be the next destination after leaving Strange Brew.
