This is my second time visiting Styr (pronounced "STIR" ) and it was just as good the second time! The first time I went I got the catfish po' boy and it was so filling! The portions here are very generous! Today I got the large Gumbo with Rice and the Red Beans and Rice. I added shrimp to the gumbo and was delicious. Shrimp cooked just right and that gumbo was packed with flavor. The amount of rice in the cup at the bottom "may" have been 20% or less? That's a big deal because when I've purchased this dish at other places it is usually a 50/50 split, but NOT HERE! You get more gumbo while being able to enjoy the rice along with it knowing you're getting a better value! The red beans and rice were also very good (excellent seasoned rice with "wet" beans in a kind of sauce). This mixture was also a hit because it wasn't just plain beans thrown into seasoned rice, there was plenty of the sauce and the dish wasn't dry at all. I did add some hot sauce to the red beans and rice for a little extra kick, and I was able to do so because of their wonderful assortment of sauces available at the counter! They offer small dipping cups so that you can fill them up to try any sauce you like! Any place that has what is essentially a "sauce bar" is doing it right in my book! My friend (for the second time) got their Chicken Tender basket along with with Cajun Fries. The tenders are huge, cooked and seasoned well, and the fries are amazing! Overall, great prices, excellent portions of delicious food at an affordable price makes for an excellent experience, and if you haven't been yet then treat yourself, you won't regret it. A quick little soul food restaurant I tried the catfish beans and rice and greens.Everything was made exactly as I or my mama would have made it. I started off with the banana pudding, which was awesome spot on for the banana pudding, the greens perfect seasoning noticed the seasoned Hamhock was tender and soft. The beans and rice, "wow!" was not expecting it to be so good. I never put my fork down. Lemonade just needed a little ice , yet perfect. Catfish very good. Will be back to try shrimp. Ordered the gumbo, chicken tenders with mac n cheese, banana pudding, sweet tea. Tried the greens as well and let me tell you! Every single dish was sooo gooood I've never had authentic southern food before like gumbo and I'm so glad and proud to have tried it first at styr chicken. Thank you so much Styr Kurbside Kitchen for your gifts and blessing the PNW with flava!!!
