Great place to hang out after a long day in the park. Meg and Corey are nothing short of fantastic. They are friendly, professional and and provide excellent service regardless of how busy they are!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My fiancée and I have made it a tradition to visit Cedar Point annually, often staying at the Breakers Hotel and enjoying drinks at the Surf Lounge and the outdoor bar. We've typically had positive experiences... until this summer, which has unfortunately led us to decide that we won’t be returning. One evening during our stay, we approached the Surf Lounge to order cocktails. The area was moderately busy with people waiting for service and socializing. As we approached, we overheard the bartender, Derek, speaking very rudely to an elderly gentleman sitting at the bar. While I didn’t see the beginning of the interaction, Derek loudly said something like, “Didn’t you hear me? I’m waiting on someone else right now.” The gentleman looked embarrassed and confused. I understand the need to manage customer flow, but this came across more like public shaming than professional crowd management. It seemed quite possible the elderly man had a hearing issue and didn’t hear Derek, especially given the noise level. My fiancée and I waited patiently for drinks for about ten minutes without being acknowledged. During that time, I started noticing Derek slurring his words, dropping items behind the bar, and speaking unusually loudly. It became clear to us that he may have been drinking while working, which is why service was taking so long. Things escalated when another hotel guest... clearly intoxicated, slurring her speech, disheveled, and dressed in pajamas, no shoes... physically pushed her way to the front of the bar, cutting ahead of us and others. She loudly demanded service and, began yelling at my fiancée, claiming she was first in line when Derek finally greeted us. We remained calm. My fiancée politely clarified that we had been waiting much longer. This woman, however, began screaming and cursing at her. When I stepped in and told her to back off and that she clearly didn’t need more alcohol, Derek finally got involved... not to de-escalate or address her inappropriate behavior, but to loudly accuse me of being “disrespectful to women." Rallying bar customers to shame me too. He completely ignored the fact that this woman was aggressive, visibly intoxicated, shoeless, disheveled, and had cut the line. Instead of diffusing the situation or upholding basic service protocols, Derek spent the next few minutes publicly shaming me in front of a crowd of patrons, while continuing to drunkenly serve drinks and overlook the disorder happening right in front of him. He then served the drunk woman two glasses of red wine. We ended up leaving without ordering anything and made the decision not to return to the Surf Lounge or Breakers Hotel again. I know what good service and responsible alcohol management look like... and this was not it. Overserving customers, staff drinking on the job, lack of conflict resolution, and allowing drunk and aggressive behavior to go unchecked creates an unsafe and unwelcoming environment for everyone.
