I recently ordered takeout from here, specifically the Basil Rice and Massaman Curry. I requested the "hot" level for both, but unfortunately, both dishes arrived with virtually no detectable spice. The Basil Rice was particularly one-dimensional. Without the expected heat from bird’s eye chilies to cut through the savory base, the dish felt heavy and lacked the necessary aromatic punch. Furthermore, not sure the basil was the traditional Holy Basil that gives this dish its signature peppery, clove-like character. The Massaman Curry was equally underwhelming. It was overly milky and lacked the depth of flavor I look for in a good curry. The sauce was noticeably separated, which suggests the curry paste wasn't properly "cracked" or incorporated during the cooking process. On the positive side, the vegetables were cooked well, they remained crisp-tender despite the takeout transit, but there was an overwhelming amount of onion that crowded out the other ingredients. Overall, the kitchen seems to struggle with balancing flavors and respecting spice-level requests. Given the price point, I expected a more authentic and deliberate approach to these Thai classics. We have gotten takeout from here a couple of times now and it was good enough to suggest it as takeout dinner for our out of state friends while they were over! Everything is always hot, fresh, and well made. I love the choices of meats or veggies in each dish. Our favorites are the pineapple fried rice, chicken satay and the curry dishes.

Absolutely authentic incredible Thai food in Rutland Vermont!!! A very lovely couple are cooking and serving some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten in this quaint, easy to miss unless you know to look for it dine in or take out restaurant. If you're looking for a fancy place with with waiters this is not for you, if you're looking for truly good food and a clean table with super sweet and caring owners come and enjoy Sweet Rice Thai Cuisine.
