Absolutely fantastic dining experience in Maputo! The chicken was exceptional, perfectly prepared, full of flavour, and easily some of the best I've had. The prawns were huge, fresh, and cooked to perfection. The chips were freshly cut and made from real potatoes, not frozen, which made a noticeable difference. The service was outstanding, with Nasser, the owner, going out of his way to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, the WiFi was fast, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food served. One thing worth mentioning is that fresh food takes time to prepare, and it is well worth the wait. I was so impressed that I even bought some of their marinade to take home, although the secret clearly lies not only in the sauce but also in the preparation and care that goes into the food. Highly recommended and a definite must visit when in Maputo. I will certainly be back.

This review is for the restaurant. Since I came to Maputo I was told multiple times that Taka-Taka is the number 1 in peri peri chicken and I’ve got to try it. It is a humble but brilliant family-owned spot that really knows how to do food right. They specialise in their peri-peri chicken, which isn’t spicy or chilli-heavy at all, but absolutely packed with flavour. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and well seasoned every time. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and you can feel the care that goes into both the food and the service. Simple, honest food done properly — a place that’s easy to keep coming back to.
