Valoracion del Guía Michelin

Una estrella MICHELIN: cocina de gran calidad. ¡Merece la pena!

Samoan culture and cuisine have no greater ambassador than Henry Onesemo. His multi-course set menu is both a celebration of his heritage and confirmation of his skill as a chef. Traditional Samoan flavours and recipes are interpreted in exhilarating ways and, if you sit at the counter, you’ll have front-row seats for a very special experience... Más información

This is a rare experience of a calibre NZ has not seen before. The food is of course, outstanding. And it’s not just the novelty factor of Samoan cuisine. Masa and the FOH team are all empath ninjas - they anticipate, cater, and entertain, all without intrusion, all without prompting. As per it’s namesake (Tala means story), the storytelling and history woven into every dish is the core of the experience. The Chef’s Journey should really be called the Chef’s Odyssey - 3 and something hours of course after course of stories and cultural insight, delivered expertly by a rotation of chefs, sommeliers and waiters, each from different cultures but spoken like natives of Samoa. Though long, it was not exhausting but enriching and filling. It was my fiancé’s birthday and they even wrote her a handwritten card! Truly Michelin worthy, and a bar-setter for the culinary landscape of NZ and the world. Tala has definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of service as well as food. Went for an early dinner 5:30 slot for my birthday. The service was top notch, and they even made honey ginger tea for my partner who wasn't feeling her best that night! +++ points for sure. And the food was extremely interesting, and I like the concept of taking everyday samoan food and refining them, whilst being very close to its roots. (Speaking as a Malaysian living in New Zealand) Highlight of the day was the panikeke course. Bread cooked over fire, with a crisp bottom and an extremely soft dome, paired with the umami bomb mushroom. Coconut dessert was extremely refreshing as well. Will revisit again for sure. Absolutely loved every second of it! (Pictures included were not the entire menu as I was too excited to try everything and cant be arsed to take pictures properly) Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
