Not the best and not the worst.

I have to say this is the best seafood I eat since i moved to Calgary. Very fresh and high quality. Highly recommend order the grande tower although it's on the pricey side but trust me it's worth it. You get whole lobster, king crab legs, mussels, shrimps, oysters, clams, all the seafood you can think of. The environment here is awesome too, nice window on the ceiling to allow nature light into the room. We were very full and happy with the service and food. Definitely will recommend to other friends to come!! Again, best seafood restaurant in YYC!! Love it!!

We were in the area and felt like having a burger out instead of fighting rush-hour traffic. We hadn't been to Tango Bistro before so, what the heck, we'd give it a try. We had no idea it specialized in seafood until we sat down. We still had "burgers on the brain" and were considering leaving but the helpful staff pointed out the burgers on the menu, so we stayed. We decided to share the Crab Stuffed Avocado Salad ($18), and for entrees my wife had the veggie burger ($16) and I had the House Ground Burger – our server told us the meat for the burger is selected and ground in-house ($18) and added Truffle Frites ($1). Tango Bistro has a large bar, a separate Raw Bar, seating alongside the front window and a larger seating area closer to the Raw Bar. It has an extensive selection of wines on display. The atmosphere is a confusing mixture of elegant/casual, a jeans with a tuxedo jacket air. I didn’t get a clear sense of what Tango Bistro wanted to be. We started with warm buns and butter mixed with sea-salt. Our Crab Stuffed Avocado Salad had half an avocado with a small mountain of crab spilling out of it with a heap of butter lettuce sprinkled with a balsamic dressing. This was delicious. We split the salad onto our side plates (suggestion to staff: If a couple make it known they are sharing a dish, either split the dish in the kitchen, or better still, bring out an extra plate). When the salad plate was cleared, the server carefully placed our used knife and fork back on the table and removed the used side plate. (suggestion: remove and replace used cutlery between courses) The burgers arrived on wooden platters. The veggie burger had a falafel-like texture with a mushroom/woodsy flavour – moist in the middle (a bit overdone on the outside). My burger was thick and juicy but really bland. Neither of us are heavy salters but we both looked for the salt and pepper shaker after our first bite. It was then we noticed there were no salt or pepper shakers at any of the tables. One must admire the confidence of the head chef in the presumption that all dishes are perfectly seasoned as it leaves the kitchen. I’d give both of the burgers a “meh”. The fries were plentiful and crispy and the roasted garlic aioli (with cloves of delightfully sweet and mild roasted garlic) was lovely. I’d skip the truffle oil next time. I do want to be fair: We dropped in without doing any research – kind of like visiting a fine furniture store to buy plywood (however, the burgers were on the menu). The salad was excellent. The wait-staff were attentive. Knowing that Tango Bistro specializes in seafood, especially raw seafood, I would return to give it a try for a special occasion. They have different weekday specials, including a “happy hour at the raw bar”, that might be interesting.
