Tea is the "cure-all" elixir of Sri Lankan people, that they are tempt to have at any time of the day. The connection between tea and our day today life is really strong, since it gives the strong punch to the nerves at any time of the day. From the luxurious home to the poorest, tea is the most regular drink in Sri Lanka and the weather or time of the day are not facts that are strong enough to come between the relationship that our people and the tea has.
Tatlers Tea is one of the small tea providers in Sri Lanka, and they have this little shop at Duplication Road, at the opposite side of the road where the old House of Fashions building used to be.
A lady runs this place, and sometimes the owner comes in as well. My visit to this place happened accidentally since I was wandering at Duplication road to kill some time and I just needed something to cure my thirst.
Tatlers Tea shop serves tea, fresh fruit juices and short eats. Apart from that, they sell their own tea as boxes and packets. Since I was not in a mood to try a tea at that time I asked for the fruit juices available and according to the lady at the counter they serve nearly 10 types of fruit juices which are very common in Sri Lankan regular juice parlous (Mango, Wood apple, Lime, Passion Fruit etc), except for one ; "Veralu Juice".
Veralu is not my type of fruit unless it's Achcharu. But the Veralu Juice I had at Tatlers tea totally changed that opinion because to be honest, now I can say that it is one of the best juices I have ever tried.
First of all it was fresh since she prepared it right in front of me. Secondly it had the perfect balance of sugar, therefore the sourness that I expected to be in it was no way close to it. It came in a fairly big cup and costed just Rs.100 which surprised me a lot since I expected a higher price than that. Honestly, I never expected a juice made of Veralu can be this much better.
I was really pleased by that drink, which tempted me to buy a box of Tatlers tea. I tried it at home, and so far its good. Not the best but it deserves some credit.
The atmosphere and the ambiance at Tatlers Tea is good. Both the owner and the lady at the counter were really pleasant and know how to make the customers feel welcome.
