I will start this review by saying that I absolutely love Tattam's, and will continue to keep visiting. It's a great spot for coffee in the daytime and also the only place in Guildford which serves good, artisanal-standard cocktails. By day it's a great coffee shop. By night it's a lovely tiny atmospheric bar with only a few tables upstairs and downstairs. A great place to drink. Unfortunately every time I've been there for cocktails recently, I've ended up a little disappointed. They have everything right: great seasonal menu, nice atmosphere, free popcorn and water when you arrive... but after that point, the service is lacking. As regular visitors, we've developed a 'Tattams Strategy' if we're staying for a couple of hours, and this means ordering our second drinks as soon as our first drinks arrive. Why do we do this? Because the first drinks take a full 15 minutes to arrive. We've already drunk our water and eaten our tiny bowl of popcorn by then. Neither the popcorn or water will be topped up. And we know that if we don't order another drink now, we're going to finish our first cocktail and we'll be sat there for a good five minutes afterwards waiting for someone to come by and take an order for our second drink... which will then take a good 10 minutes at least to arrive while we sit at an empty table. It shouldn't be like this. As a group, we could enthusiastically drink 4 cocktails each in 2 hours, but the slow service means that we're strategising just to keep our own drinks flowing. On our last visit we paid up and left early because we considered 40 minutes to be not long enough to order another round of drinks, pay the bill, and leave in time to meet our restaurant reservation. Tattam's is a victim of its own success I think. By day, it's an excellent place to stop for coffee and by night it's a bar which deserves to be popular, because the cocktails really are excellent. It's difficult to secure a table on a Friday or Saturday night for a reason. But it is a frustrating bar to visit. Even as small as it is, at the moment, you're stuck in a situation of constantly attempting to hail a waiter for another drink (and then waiting 10-15 minutes for it to arrive) or tactically planning so that you're not all sat twiddling your thumbs around an empty table full of empty glasses. Even at the busiest times, there's only one or two people behind the tiny bar, mixing cocktails for 30+ people. I want to love this bar, I really do. It's the only place in Guildford where you can get a decent, creative cocktail. But by heck, they could sell so many more of them if they just sorted their staffing out and got a few more people behind the bar. Tattam's, I want to give you my money and drink more of your lovely cocktails. Please make it easier. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5

Tattam’s is a great coffee spot in Guildford. I had a lovely cappuccino with oat milk and warm croissant with jam. But the breakfast bagels and cake looked amazing . It was open and quiet on Sunday morning. Very cozy upstairs space, incredibly friendly staff and Harry Potter audio book playing in the toilet. Strangely entertaining!
