Tentoshi (near Otsuka Station) has become one of those places we consistently return to whenever we’re in Tokyo — and for good reason. The tempura here is thoughtfully prepared: light, crisp batter that never feels heavy or oily, allowing the natural flavors of the seafood and vegetables to really come through. Each piece arrives hot and well-timed, and you can tell there’s care in the frying — delicate yet satisfying. It’s comfortingly familiar, but done properly. What truly sets Tentoshi apart, though, is the service. It’s the kind of quiet, attentive Japanese hospitality that makes you feel genuinely welcome, even as a returning visitor. The staff are polite, efficient, and consistently warm, without being intrusive. Over time, it’s this reliability — knowing you’ll be taken care of — that keeps us coming back. The atmosphere is modest and unpretentious, which honestly adds to its charm. No unnecessary frills, just good food, steady quality, and sincere service. It feels local, grounded, and dependable — the kind of neighborhood restaurant you grow attached to. Ten Toshi may not be flashy, but it delivers what matters: well-executed tempura, honest flavors, and service that makes you feel at home.
