This place is the real damn deal. Impeccable German beer and schnapps/liqueur selection. Kegs were super fresh. Proper glassware - all that stuff. I’ve been to Germany and to German restaurants/bars all over the US, and this place is top notch. A haven in the city. Had the leiberkäse plate. This is a test dish for any German place and it was as good as I have had anywhere including Bavaria. Prost! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I have lived in Germany for years and make it a habit to visit German style restaurants in the US when I find them. I went with my family but was not enthusiastic about the visit. Our meals were cooked well but very bland. I hope this was an off day, so future patrons can have a good experience. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly. One of the first dates that I took my future wife on decades ago was dinner at Teske's Germania. At the time it was the only Hofbrau style restaurant in the Santa Clara Valley. Novelty aside, it was our introduction to hearty German recipes. My go to order was either the Roasted Pork Shank or the Breaded Pork Cutlet topped with mushroom sauce. Often we had to wait for a table but it was easy to pass some time having a few cocktails in their full service bar. The Covid pandemic prevented us from doing out as frequently as we used to. Fortunately things have settled down recently. When my wife asked me about how I wanted to celebrate Valentines Day I suggested we revisit Teske's. I'm glad we did. We set our reservation for 4:30 pm since parking can be a challenge. Since we were dining at opening time we did not have to wait to be seated and we were offered a window seat. The decor had not changed since the first date years ago. We ordered 2 special Valentines cocktails while we scanned the menu. For nostalgia sake I ordered the roasted shank which is served with sauerkraut and potato salad. My wife ordered the breaded pork cutlet crowned with the white mushroom sauce. We were not disappointed. The skin on my pork shank was crispy and crunchy while the meat was juicy and succulent. My wife's breaded pork cutlet and mushroom sauce served with spatzle (house made German pasta) was equally delicious. Our servers were pleasant and attentive. They went out of their way to make our meal special. Unfortunately we were so anxious to attack our plates that I forgot to take pictures. For dessert I had their Bee Sting Honey Cake while my wife chose a moist Black Forest Cherry Chocolate cake. In an ever changing dining scene in our valley it is comforting to have some oldies but goodies that we can share with friends and family.
