I am a Downtown West Palm resident who frequents local restaurants regularly. The original Blind Monk on Evernia St. was fantastic. Great wines, ambiance & warm, excellent service. They recently relocated to the Aka hotel nearby. I went there for the 1st time on Saturday evening with 2 friends. We wanted to have some wine and listen to live music. I googled live music in my neighborhood and they came up showing live Jazz 6-9pm. I called to confirm that it was still going on, no answer. We decided to go anyway. We sat at the bar and had to flag down the server, busy speaking to the other bartender, behind the bar. I wanted a rose’ wine but they had none from Provence, France. The primary and always available region for rose’ available in every restaurant or local bar everywhere. I am a wine aficionado, but when I moved on to my second preference of red, was unfamiliar with their selection. I kindly asked the server if I may please have a small taste of one that seemed to be somewhat familiar she snapped back at me no tastes allowed I mean really at $20.00 a glass and up I have never heard of such a thing and neither had my friends or the person next to me, who had just checked in to the hotel. There was no jazz either. I casually spoke to the manager, she couldn’t care less. Said they had nothing to do with the hotel, just renting space from them. What kind of attitude is that? Of course we are leaving after we finish our one drink and bill time comes. Server’s artitude suddenly gets really sweetwith the bill on an Ipad and says oh I will help you with the processing ready options for tip in huge boxes 18% 22% 25% . Little tiny tiny box, dimly lit place and I pad other My friends and I, other patrons who were unhappy, will never go back. We are not accustomed to being being treated this way. Awful experience.
