Absolutely brilliant atmosphere, staff, well the place was packed, but they kept smiling and served so fast, they were brilliant. The owners, they worked as hard beside their staff. Great team work. Festival opening, Rock of ages was the headline band, they rocked the place, but a new young family band on b4 them from Kilkenny was also fab, switching from original and covers, n many instruments were used. They'll go far. So for me the chestnut is the place to go.. Atmosphere: 5

The chestnut bar is by far one of the nicest and cleanest pubs around. It's cosy and welcoming atmosphere makes you sit back and relax. You can really enjoy the chats with the friendly staff and the delicious creamy pints. There cocktails is undoubtedly the best in birr and the massive beer garden and live music on weekends really gets the crowds going. The pub offers both the calm and relaxing tones Inside while still knowing how to throw a party outside. Highly recommend especially during vintage week.
