On today's rainy day, my friend and I stopped at the for coffee and cake, first of all the middle-aged man serving us had no idea how to make mocha, so he called on a younger female colleague to help him... Well, I got a bad, sub-standard coffee. The second disappointment was when we were met with an unfriendly refusal to sit down (though it was raining outside). Apart from the rude attitude of the male staff(?), we could not understand why, if the upstairs area was kept closed to guests for some reason, one of the two remaining downstairs tables was appropriated for staff, where they were obviously keeping their own things (e.g. aprons etc. on that one table)? Which is not welcoming in the least, in fact it is unprofessional. A huge disappointment compared to The Cornish Bakery in Bowness-on-Windermere, both in terms of coffee and service, so we will most definitely not be returning here. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We are a small bakery with nothing upstairs except the office and packaging storage, so I can assure you you have missed nothing here! On this grounds, because of our size, staff do need to have their lunch somewhere, so yes, at times the hidden table (so to speak) is used by staff. It matters not to us what the weather is doing, we simply are a small shop and do not have the capacity that our other shops in the area, Bowness, or Keswick have. Kind regards.More
