I came here on Friday 4/5/2024 night around 7.30PM to meet up with an old HS buddy of mine that I haven't seen a while and to celebrate my belated birthday. I looked up their website and Yelp & Google reviews, and had a pretty good idea that it's basically like a TGIF, Island's or Chili's minus the actual, formal dine-in service. Yes, there is a kind of sit-down service but it's more like a quick grub-n-go than sit down, lounge around and eat at your own pace. The business location itself is kind of bad and a bit hard to find. Trying to find free parking in this part pf town is also pretty bad. Nevertheless, if you can overlook its poor business location and terrible parking situation for the area, the quality of their burgers are actually quite decent. My friend ordered for the both of us and we did 50/50 tots and sweet potato fries plus two orders of 'The Counter Burger'--basically, their signature burger. Tots and sweet potatoes were fried to just the right consistency of crispy, freshness and were lightly salted. They tasted fine. The burgers tasted fine but... honestly, I've had a lot of different burgers at a bunch of other restaurants prior to this point, both retail chains and indie mom-and-pop shops. It sounds harsh but I've had equally tasty burgers at a lower price point and without having to deal with finding parking in a high cost area in addition to trying to find the spot itself. It's not bad but it's also nothing to write home about. Even as I'm typing up this review, I'm struggling to find the words to describe the burger. It's a decently seasoned burger patty with crisp lettuce, fried onions and tomato. The one negative thing is the crunchy water. It was haphazardly stacked onto the bottom of the burger. It was just 'Meh', ya know what I mean? Nothing really stuck out about the burger or the appetizer that we had otherwise. Ambiance. Not much to it. It's brightly lit, there was music in the background, and there was lots of open space. It was pretty dead that night. Save for my friend and I, there were two other parties of two and six respectively, one group sat besides our table and the other on the far end of the space. Service. There was only one server and one cook. Both seemed friendly enough. They take credit cards. Enough said. All in all, the overall experience was fine. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have picked this location. Why my HS buddy chose this location as the place to eat is beyond me but I suspect that it's close by home for him while it's a journey for me to make my way out there and then hunt for parking. There is an open air parking lot across the street that's free for 1.5 hours. But afterwards, it's an arm and a leg to continue to park there past that time limit but I digress. For the price, honestly, I'd rather just eat at the Cheesecake Factory and the quality would have been comparable while also getting slightly more out of the meal--in addition to the service being a lot better and parking would have been a much easier experience to find. It's a solid 3.5 stars but in the interest of fairness, I'll give it 4 stars for this 1st time experience.
