Quite exceptional My wife and I like shared platters, and have had many. But their shared platter meal takes it to a different level. The only disappointment is that now every other place we go to will probably be a comparison and probably a disappointment.

We were a group of 5 that had dinner there last night. It was a Friday evening so the bar area was busy and quite noisy. We all opted for the feed me menu which was $55 per head. Entree’s came out and consisted of lamb ribs which had good flavour but overly fatty and chewy, some sourdough bread with just teaspoon of butter and dukkah for 8 slices of bread?? A bowl of toasted almonds and some pumpkin purée dip. For mains we had pork belly which was cooked really well, tomato and mozzarella salad, green beans , roasted squash and some fried potatoes. All the mains were tasty but for $55 a head the amount did not justify the pricing. We all felt really underwhelmed. The desserts were good. Service could have been better, we were waiting half an hour for our mains and the waiter gave no apology and was quite rude when we asked where our food was.

The Flour Factory is a most attractive place – heavy jarrah tables and an eye-catching bar, its fascia made of jarrah offcuts, comfortable chairs, striking light fittings, it really has a great look and feel, with a large window adorned with the name peeping out over Queen Street. The wine list at Flour Factory is small but thoughtfully put together with a good range of prices, varieties and regions represented. A bottle of Castelli Estate 2017 Great Southern Riesling called and exceptional it proved – lemon blossom and baked quince aromas; crunchy juicy palate of lime pith, green apple skins and lemon juice the bright acid lingering on and on…
