This place is AWESOME!! The inside is so cool and beautiful, whoever decorated and arranged the shop did an awesome job. Lots of books, records, DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, etc. Upstairs they've got a very comfortable reading lounge. It was pretty crowded in the store which might be the norm on weekends -- wishing this place lots of success, its a fantastic shop!

Absolutely loved the atmosphere of this place. We are vinyl record collectors and being able to sit down and actually listen to a record before purchasing was such a nice touch. Will definitely be returning.

Thanks so much Melissa for incredibly kind words. We built this place to encourage folks to slow down and take a beat, and what better way to do that than with a free listening station and a stack of cool LPs! Looking forward to your next visit

First time visiting this location, I was really looking forward to checking out the space. There’s a great selection of books and music, and I was especially interested in purchasing some cassette tapes. When I entered, I was warmly greeted by the staff. I ordered a delicious espresso and spent some time enjoying the vibe. However, while browsing the books, I was verbally harassed by another customer. He cornered me and demanded that I greet him, and when I didn’t respond the way he wanted, he began yelling very loudly and complaining about me throughout the store. I felt extremely uncomfortable, and it was disappointing to hear a barista seemingly agree with the customer who was harassing me. In the end, I felt I had no choice but to leave and was left feeling disregarded by the staff. I wish the best for the bookstore, but I will not be returning, as I fear this space is not welcoming or open to all people.

EDIT: I have discussed this matter with the barista on duty and learned that the individual who engaged you is an unhoused person experiencing an untimely episode. Our barista is trained in deescalation and was attempting to defused the situation. What appeared to be “agreement” was an expression of empathy in an effort to lower the temperature. She viewed his behavior in the context of a mental episode, and was in no way agreeing with him and was indeed attempting to make the space more welcoming to our guests. We would like to invite you to return to the store at your leisure for a free coffee in the hopes of restoring your faith in our efforts to be safe and friendly to all. ORIGINAL: I am extremely distraught to hear of your negative experience in our shop. Unfortunately, being a downtown establishment, we are susceptible to the occasional unsolicited disturbance, though they are all dealt with safely and swiftly. It is distressing, however, to hear that a staff member made you uncomfortable, and we intend to review the matter immediately. I assure you that intolerance is wholly unwelcome here, as we pride ourselves on providing access to all. Please reach out to me via email so I can personally apologize for any harm caused. info@thenewsagentsshop.com
