I had this place in my list and I eventually decided to visit on the 12th of July for dinner. We walked in and the place was moderately full but it wasn't more than half full. The ambient was British but in a modern way. The walls had some images of a Yeomen Warder, albums by my idols The Beatles and Princess Diana. We sat in the back of the restaurant. We looked through menus and after 5-10 minutes a tall man came to take the orders. I would have liked to order a lager but there was no sign of any of that on the menu. All I saw was ales, imperial stouts and IPA, all stuff I know and dislike. I ordered an ice tea. I also ordered bangers and mash along with a side of mushy peas. Interestingly, I saw a chicken pot pie and shepherd's pie. All of them are things I typically see on Irish menus in Irish pubs. I have not been able to travel through all of Britain except for NI, some England and a good amount of Scotland so it's hard for me to comment on the menu to confirm it's truly British. After at least 10 minutes the ice tea arrived to the table. For a while I was afraid they ran all the way to the tea plantations. No sugar was supplied so we had to ask for some. After another 10 minutes my food arrived. It consisted of 3 medium-size bangers, some mash potatoes and some sautéed kale. The bangers were hot. The potatoes and kale were at ambient temperature. No waiter came to check on us so I had to flag one down. A lady came over and I asked if the potatoes and the kale were supposed to be hot. She was not sure (funny thing she works there) so she sad she would check. After a few minutes she came back, told me they should be hot and told me she would bring a new hot set. I ate some of the bangers that came along with a gravy and a roll. They were nothing special. The gravy was brown and subtly spicy. I went on for about 5-10 minutes. A third waiter, a man, came to my table. He brought a new set of potatoes and kale which he set on the table but, lacking judgment, approached from the right and crossed over my plate rather than using his brain, approach the table from the left and place the plate on the left of my plate where space was available and obvious. The mashed potatoes were finally hot. They were good, did not have much butter (I like them that way since I like potatoes rather than potatoes with a bunch of butter). The kale was nothing inspiring. The mushy peas, something I discovered in Northern Ireland and I really liked, did not really taste as good. It was primitive and not worth the extra $2  paid for them. I drank and ate most of the food. As I progressed I had the feeling drink and food were nothing special. The experience of being served by multiple waiters that I have to flag down, having to eat food in installments and the quality of the food was not was I looking for or what I paid for. I cannot give more than 2 stars to The Oxford Kitchen and Gastropub. I doubt I will visit again. I don't see the point.
