Thinking of going out on the weekend? Check out The Piston! I go out every weekend specifically for music, so this review comes from a musical perspective! This place has one of the finest sounding rooms in the city (!) I first came in following DJ Generel Eclectic – who hosts a 90s music night. Additionally I found they had a wonderful weekly Friday night party called Wax Candy Disco that I recommend you might start with. I didn’t know how much I could like disco until I started coming here! Music sounds better here. Hats off to the owners who have paid attention to the sound in the back room. Vibe in the bar is very free. Diverse backgrounds, all age groups 20s-40s, no trouble at all here. Mainly people who seem to really enjoy themselves. I really seem to like DJ Cyclist (fridays) who plays all vinyl the way the time eras music was actually played. He impressively mixes in songs that everyone knows for the newer audience.. but also goes much deeper with the music weekly which makes this one of the few places you can go to regularly. I learned a new whole genre of music here. There are not that many places in Toronto that are like this place. If you want a night out, enjoy music and a really good sound system, I recommend you try The Piston!
