Gave this place two chances during our Spring Break in Sugarloaf - and sadly disappointed both times. The first time around, we arrived on a Tuesday evening when both their website and Google showed they were open. Entered the property to an empty parking lot, because apparently they decided to close on Tuesdays and never updated their days/hours online. This isn't 2005 and customers rely on your website to be accurate; it only takes a few minutes to update your open/close days. We were a little disappointed, but found a pub in a neighboring town and had dinner there instead. The following day, we decided to give The Rack another chance. This time, I made sure to call them to confirm they were going to be open. We called around 5PM and were told the kitchen would be closing at 9PM. Great! We arrived at 8:15 and there was no one at the at the host station. We waited for a few minutes until a waitress noticed we were standing there, and told us someone would be there shortly. After waiting a bit longer, a gentleman arrived at the host station and just stood there awkwardly staring at us, didn't even say hello. So I greeted him and said there was a party of 3 for dinner. The gentleman just coldly and succinctly responded that the kitchen had already closed at 8. Because the atmosphere at the restaurant was quite busy and lively - and we had a child with us - his serious tone caught me off guard and I thought he was joking! So I actually laughed and told him to stop messing with us, as we called earlier, and were told the was closing at 9. Upon hearing this the gentleman responded that he believed he spoke with me and told me that they may close earlier if they felt like it. I was taken aback as my whole reason for calling earlier was to confirm when they would close so we could make sure we ate there - and he never mentioned there was a possibility they could close sooner. So I just responded that this was absolutely untrue, and we left. The unfriendliness of the host and his manner of speaking to a family was just so bizarre! Luckily, our night was saved when we got into the car and saw on Google that the Sugarbowl Restaurant & Bowling Alley was open. We called them and they said that they were closing the kitchen at 9. We rushed over and got there at 8:40, feeling bad that they were serving us so late - but their managers and staff were so sweet and friendly! We had the most amazing fresh-fried fish, fried pickles and wings! SOOOOO GOOD, that we returned there two more times during the week! Anyhow, our experiences with The Rack were quite sad and bizarre, but the silver lining was that we found another place with really great food - and amazing customer service! Service: 1
