Wow what a diamond in the rough, firstly I have ate Scouse in every venue that serves it in Liverpool this was the best in Liverpool FACT, the decafe was nice and the service as expected and polite fast and efficient, my only feedback for management is the table I sat at was abit wobbly, additionally; I am not a fan of cutlery out for customers to grab as no one knows the hand hygiene of other customers so you only hope they have not touched your cutlery. The lovely staff around the building were pleasant and helpful. Although I was offered a tour of the building by the gentleman by the piano the gentleman at reception had no idea of this not the end of the world but it would of been lovely to add to this about the beautiful building. The small bookshop lovely although books where pricey and some with no prices on along with a till issue that took time to rectify the book choice is limited to someone's personal choice Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Dietary restrictions: Although the do offer gluten free it is limited. IE only one gluten free cake

Terrible. Had to clean the table myself with baby wipes. The floor looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a few weeks. Ordered tuna jacket potatoes with cheese - awful. Extremely dry with a slice of cheese thrown on top and jacket potatoes seems like it’s microwaved. Got up to ask for mayo and was looked at in disgust by one staff member and told mayo was on the end of counter by another - it was not. Also ordered a coffee which never arrived, we did tell the girl who brought the potatoes who clearly couldn’t be bothered to relay it to the bar staff - we actually had to Que up to ask for this at the end of the meal and get it to takeaway. There are so many staff members on shift at one time it’s absolutely baffling how it can turn into such a rubbish experience - everything should be spot on with that many people working. It’s a shame as it’s situated in such a lovely place - that if they got it right I would return many times but unfortunately won’t be.

Ordered the two styles of pancakes on the breakfast menu; the strawberry with cream and Nutella drizzle for my daughter was demolished and looked great. Mine; the fruit, pancakes and maple syrup, sadly had hardly any fruit on at all. It seemed a complete waste of money, when your quartering a raspberry so you have at least some fruit with your pancake! Wish I'd ordered my daughters choice! Next time! Otherwise the cafe is lovely, staff are friendly, but we did end up eeding to sit outside though as when it's busy it's very noisy indoors! Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: £10–20 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot, Free of charge street parking Parking: About a ten/fifteen minute walk to the Reader Cafe from the car park depending on which one you are able to use.
