昨夜はご来店いただき、誠にありがとうございました。 また、ご期待に沿えなかった点があったことを、残念に思っております。当日は私が十分に英語での対応ができない状況の中、偶然居合わせた他のお客様がご厚意で通訳を引き受けてくださり、その助けを借りながら対応させていただきました。 この場を借りて、その方のご配慮に心より感謝申し上げます。なお、その通訳をしてくださったお客様に責任が及ぶようなことがあってはならないと考えております。 オールドボトルのウイスキーは非常に繊細で、アルコールの強さを好まれる方もいれば、長い熟成によってアルコールが穏やかになり、樽香や麦の甘み、当時の背景を含めて楽しまれる方もいらっしゃいます。 昨夜はその味わいの捉え方において、お客様のお好みと当店の考え方に違いがあった可能性があると受け止めております。 味わいの捉え方が異なるおそれもある点を踏まえ、2杯目のウイスキーをご案内するにあたり、通訳を介して「半額でのご提供ではいかがでしょうか」とお伝えし、ご了承をいただいた上でお出ししたものと認識しております。 もしこの点について十分に意図が伝わっていなかったとすれば、その点についてはお詫び申し上げます。 また、2杯目をお飲みになった後、このような状況となり、せっかく日本にお越しいただいたにもかかわらず、嫌な思い出だけを持ち帰ってほしくないという気持ちが強くありました。そこで、こちらに何かできることはないかと考え、当店からの誠意として、サントリー「インペリアル」（響30年の前身にあたるウイスキー）および、1990年代のシェリー樽熟成21年物ウイスキーを、いずれも無料でご提供いたしました。 結果としてご満足いただけなかったことは残念ではありますが、当時の状況の中で、私なりにできる限りの対応をさせていただきました。 この先のご滞在が、少しでも良いものとなることを心よりお祈り申し上げます。 ご来店、誠にありがとうございました。 Thank you very much for visiting our bar last night.We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. As I am not fluent in English, a guest who happened to be present kindly offered to assist as a translator. With their help, I responded to your requests to the best of my ability. I would like to clearly state that this guest acted solely out of goodwill, and no responsibility should be attributed to them. Old bottle whiskies are extremely delicate. Some guests prefer strong alcoholic intensity, while others value whiskies in which the alcohol has mellowed over decades, allowing the character of the cask, the malt, and the era itself to emerge. It is possible that there was a difference between your expectations and how we approach and evaluate such whiskies. Taking into consideration that there might be differences in how the whisky’s condition and flavor were perceived, I explained—through the translator—that the second whisky could be offered at half price, and I served it based on my understanding that you agreed to this arrangement. If this intention was not fully conveyed or understood, I regret the misunderstanding. After you had your second drink and the situation became strained, I was genuinely concerned that you might leave Japan with an unpleasant memory, despite having traveled here. I therefore asked myself what I could do, as the host, to improve the situation.As a result, and purely as a gesture of sincerity, I served two additional whiskies on the house: Suntory “Imperial,” which is the predecessor to Hibiki 30 Years, and a well-matured sherry cask 21-year-old whisky from the 1990s.While I am sorry that we could not satisfy your expectations, I believe that I responded appropriately given the circumstances, with the intention of offering hospitality to a guest visiting Japan. I sincerely hope the remainder of your stay in Japan was a positive one.Thank you again for your visit.
