No te vayas sin tomar sus perfectamente elaboradas albóndigas, sus sorprendentes ensaladas de pollo o sus caseros rollitos de primavera. The staff was courteous, but the printed menu was completely inaccurate and the salad I received was not at all what I ordered- broccoli, almonds and mushy grapes are not arugula, summer melon and goat cheese. The wait was too long to send it back. The grilled cheese was not grilled, more like a room temp cheese sandwich with no butter on the bread 4 meals and it was $120. Not at all worth it.

Used to be my favorite hidden gem, it's outside of the Academy of Science and always less busy than the cafe inside. The building was designed by Mark Cavagnero Associates and integrates nicely with the main building and has Philip Johnson Glass House and van der Rohe Barcelona Pavillion vibes with its pronounced overhung roof and a "glass box" starting point. The menu rotates and they used to have an amazing roasted cornish game hen and rectangular cut giant potato wedges. I'm not sure why it's been rotated out for generic Mexican food. Spicy Beef Tacos: Ratio of meat to toppings were off but the ground beef tasted ok. Did not like the tortillas, they were cold and did not taste good. Cheese Quesadilla: For the kids, we had to force them to eat it which is not a good sign. The cheese was also no evenly distributed so some parts were empty and others had a ton of cheese, almost all the edges were empty. Nachos: It was like something you would get at a party at work but the chicken was grilled and better than normal.

There are two restaurants at the Academy of Science. The Academy Cafe is very large with a lot of food options but savagely expensive drinks. $5 for a 16 oz jar of tea? No thanks. The Terrace is a quieter choice with both indoor and outdoor seating. The rubber chairs that contour as you sit are surprisingly very comfortable. The food here is fine, thus making for no need to go somewhere else to eat when spending a day at the Academy. However the drinks here are also stupidly expensive. They used to sell beer on tap but removed that a few months ago. Just a can of soda here is $5 which is robbery. Yet they do have good quality iced filtered tap water which is free if you care to serve yourself from the drink station. A family of 4 can save $20 right there with this tip. Skip the drinks. The white chocolate creme brulee was insanely awesome.
