MARY ESTHER — For the second time in less than a year, a local restaurant by the name of the Tipsy Pig has been closed after inspectors found evidence of rodent activity.
The restaurant at 2504 Highway 98 West was closed Sept. 13 by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, but allowed to reopen the next day after the most serious violations had been fixed.
On the first visit, inspectors found more than 400 rodent droppings, some hard to the touch and others sticky. The droppings were found outside near the dumpster, inside near the handwash station and on at least one condiment, and behind or under the fryers, cook table, freezer and pizza oven. They were also found in the main bar area under the beer cooler and around the ice machine, as well as in the cleaning supplies cabinet, according to the report.
