Long post, but if you want to really know - read on. To start, you should know we are familiar with chophouses and didn't spare on ordering. We spent $1000 and had Prime Rib, Ribeye, Sea Bass, Chateaubriand filet mignon for two, with wine, most of the appetizer menu, Fosters desert etc. Service was as expected. Great at times, but overworked. By example waitress provided comfort for small children, but took 45 min to get drinks for some after others already finished martinis. The atmosphere was superb. The prime rib was cooked to perfection, but flavorless. Ribeye was great. The sea Bass was very overcooked. Do not recommend. Nobody at the table could eat it. Marinara pasta on kids menu was straight up inedible. Gross. French fries and chicken straps on kids menu were very good. Fosters martini and Fosters banana desert were both very, very good. Overall I'd say the quality for a chophouse was average. I go to a lot of them, and a $1000 bill is about what I expected. The value for that cost, however, just wasn't there. Atmosphere, yes. Food, no. I've had better prime rib at several competitors and your average Bonefish has better Sea Bass. If you're going here and want a good night, I recommend a Fosters Martini to start, Bacon wrapped Scallop appetizer, Ribeye dinner and Fosters Banana desert. You'll be very pleased. Addendum: the bread is awesome, as are the bacon wrapped scallops. The escargot was a bit gritty but excellent taste. The shrimp cocktail is better than you expect, and the beef tips are very good. The whole appetizer menu seems very worthy and you can't go wrong. Overall I rated this a 3 simply because their two premier dishes were subpar, the prime rib and sea Bass. They might not be able to control the flavor of the prime rib itself as it was cooked perfectly, but the sea Bass was lousy. A 4 adults at the table tasted and passed. If you want great atmosphere which is clearly above par, come here. But I won't rate it higher than 3 stars simply due to cost to value. Fortunately, I am here for every dinner service, always available, and anxious to remedy any issue, should one arise. I understand that you enjoy detailing your dining experiences of the restaurants you bring your business to, which is fantastic, and I am certain very much appreciated when positively promoting, hopeful, future business for the establishments that you have visited. Had you, simply, made management aware of any issue while dining with us, in the moment, I assure you it would have been remedied promptly to ensure a superb dining experience for you and your guests. Instead, you chose to leave our establishment without expressing any form of disapproval in regard to anything. With an evening's worth of opportunity to address anything that you felt was not up to par, and while absolutely knowing we would surely remedy any issue promptly, why would you simply say......nothing,? only to dedicate a considerable amount of your personal time later to typing up a review that expressed how everything about your dining experience was fantastic but wanted to, "simply," leave a 3-star rating for an establishment that takes their guests' experiences and reputation so very seriously. You felt that two of your entrees were subpar, and that one was inedible, and chose not to relay this information to any member of our team at any point in time throughout the evening? While we do appreciate your praise in regard to our unique ambience, cocktail preparation, appetizer selections, chicken tender kid's meal, and bread that you approved of, the time you chose to spend detailing anything that you felt was disappointing could have been easily eliminated had you, "simply," let us know there was anything that you found to be disappointing. In closing, I encourage you to dine with us again so that we may be given the opportunity to show you that anything that you felt was disappointing in your last experience, was certainly an anomaly, and not something to be expected when dining at Thoroughbreds. Until next time, Mr. Payne. Chase Clardy General Manager Thoroughbreds ChophouseMore

This is an all-around nice place to have dinner. It has a nice location in north Myrtle Beach and the decor is very pleasant. The service here was top notch. The food, overall, was excellent. They have one of the best Cesar salads and crab cakes that I have eaten. They also have a very good wine selection. I would certainly eat here again for a special occasion. We were looking for a restaurant that served a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day and I came across Thoroughbreds Chophouse while checking into where we could go.....many 5 star ratings so my expectations were set for a good meal. I'm still stunned the day after as to how horrible the meal was. At $68 per person it was the most expensive meal we ever had (and we eat at many very good restaurants in the area) and it was the worst we've ever had. I was relieved to see someone else's post feeling the same. It took forever for dinner to be served and when it came we couldn't believe our eyes. The turkey was sliced thin as if for a sandwich. Then it was either fried to heated in a microwave.....it was dry and the edges were curled up. The sides were barely a tablespoon serving and worse than a TV dinner. The rolls were basically wonder bread. By the time we were served a couple of the desserts were no longer available so the three of us ordered pumpkin pie. It was basically a mini tart with a teaspoon of pumpkin and a squirt of whipped cream. Dinner took 3 hours. I'm still in shock that a restaurant with this high a rating had the nerve to charge $68/person for a meal this horrible. They certainly left an impression.....lesson learned...I think we won't be the only diners that won't be back.
