We had brunch reservations. Our server was Sadeya (sp?). Music is loud. You can carry on a loud conversation but I dont like to talk loud. Bourbon chicken had too much fried batter & was soggy. The regular fried chicken was fine. The L.BB Jawn was good, just needs a bit more L & BB. The breakfast sandwich & coffee were good. Probably won't be back just b/c it's too loud for my taste. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

So 2wks ago I visited this place And was disappointed at the food & lack of manners. I ordered food 15min before I arrived & when I got there it still wasn't ready. It was about 7ppl already seated & eating in the dining area Looking at the Cafe its Ok But paying $25 for their French toast wasn't giving. Overpricing for under cooked French toast is sad. They cook the French toast 1side then fold it & the other side is NOT cooked then they place powdered sugar & fruit on it I couldn't eat it. I payed $25 & tipped 4this also got cheese eggs & turkey bacon. I took the French toast back the Manager said he could make it over claiming thats how they make their signature French toast. On top of that when picking up food a female not the one with braids the lightskin1 sneezed all in the air not covering her mouth. Overall they get Price per person: $20–30 Food: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Food Quality & Taste- 3 Overall, the food was good. The savory items were seasoned very well. I tried the Fried Catfish and Grits. I'd rate that a 4/5. It was seasoned well, the catfish was crispy, and the grits were creamy. The beef bacon is 4/5. I also tried the Blueberry Lemon waffle. This is was a 2/5. The waffle was quite hard and the lemon filling tasted like pie filling out of the can. This was unfortunate. Overall, I'd recommend to go and support the business, but steer clear of the waffles. Service- 4 The service was quite slow, but very courteous! For example, when reminding a staff member about my coffee order, the server moved quickly with a very positive energy. NOTE: Reservations on made through Yelp. They are often busy, so I'd recommend a reservation. I placed myself on the waiting list, but that didn't seem to be successful. Atmosphere- 5 Toast Cafe has such a nice vibe! I went on Valentine's Day, and it was decorated nicely! In addition to the Valentine's Day decor, I appreciate the focus on Black culture. There was a Black movie playing on the TV, "Old School" R&B music playing, and Black history figures on the wallpaper. Lastly, they provided options to play games while waiting for your food. Games like dominoes and Uno. Such a creative and Pro-Black atmosphere. Value- 3.5 Overall, the restaurant provided a solid experience. Some of the food items were not as great as I'd hoped, but the positive service and wonderful atmosphere somewhat compensated for the food. Opportunities for Learning- 3.5 The restaurant is located next to Malcolm X Memorial Park. Additionally, there are many Black historical figures on the wallpaper. If you're on a journey to learn more about Black history, there is much to be learned. Meal type: Brunch Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
