Very disappointing experience. The service was slow and unfriendly, and I was surprised to see an automatic gratuity added for a party of only two people. What concerned me the most was seeing a roach in the restaurant. That alone made me question the cleanliness of the establishment. To make matters worse, I received conflicting information about their hibachi takeout policy. During a previous visit, I was told I couldn't order hibachi to go while dining in. On my most recent visit, I was told that I could. It's frustrating when employees aren't consistent. Unfortunately, between the poor service, cleanliness issue, mandatory gratuity, and inconsistent policies, I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

My husband and I have been coming to Tokyo Cafe since 2010, and it's still one of our favorite places in Baton Rouge. The owners have been there for years, and there's something special about walking into a restaurant where they recognize your face and genuinely appreciate your business. The sushi is always fresh, the hibachi is amazing, and the service is consistently quick and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming and makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. Considering the quality of the food, especially the fresh fish, the prices are incredibly reasonable. It's hard to find that combination of consistency, quality, and value these days. We'll continue coming back for years to come. Highly recommend! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A member of our group has a severe gluten allergy. We informed our server and she ordered spring rolls. These were not traditional spring rolls with rice paper. They had the same wrapping as egg rolls which she could not have. We told the server and she said I’m sorry and walked off. We were left with the spring rolls which we did not eat. For her meal she ordered a crab salad. This was brought out to us covered in tempera which she cannot have. The server did not come back until everyone was finished eating so she was forced to scrape off all the outside and eat the inside, wasting over half of the food. We informed the server when she finally returned and she replied “I guess I need to look up gluten allergies.” She returned with our checks and charged us for what was not even eaten and told us that if we did not want to be charged we should have returned it to the kitchen immediately. The rolls were still on the table with all the dirty dishes she never took. We asked for a manager and were told the owners were not there today. We were also automatically charged tip because we were a party of 7. We will not be returning and urge you to steer clear of this establishment. They do not care about their customers.
& we ordered hibachi- subpar and chef was boring. Go around the corner to ichiban instead.
