Food was DELICIOUS, with very generous portions for the meat dishes; had the salmon steak which was very good but I would probably take an additional side to feel full. Would prefer if the food for guests at one table came out at the same time though. Nice, cozy, very home- style and enjoyable overall! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €10–15 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian options: A bit lacking in this department, but have 2 dishes with fish and a greek salad + most of the snacks are vegetarian!

I would describe the food here as "homestyle"—simple, unpretentious, and flavorful, much like the kind of meal your mom would serve you. If you're expecting intricate dishes made with advanced techniques, this isn’t the place for you. That said, the food delivers on comfort and taste. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the hostess, who kindly walked me through the menu options. While the menu offers a wide variety of choices, I found it a bit overwhelming. I was a bit disappointed that the focus wasn’t on tortilla-based dishes like fajitas, quesadillas, and tacos. However, given that this is Ilguciems and not the tourist-heavy Old Town, I can understand the more diverse approach to the menu. The food itself was satisfying with generous portions, but there were a few hiccups. The Chinese cabbage salad seemed a bit wilted, which led me to think it might have been prepared the day before. My suggestion to the chef would be to ensure side salads are made to order, as tired-looking greens can give the impression of less-than-fresh ingredients. Overall, though, I enjoyed the meal. However, I did notice the staff circulating quite a bit, which could be better used to address small details—such as polishing the glassware, which had noticeable water spots from the dishwasher. Attention to these finer touches will elevate the dining experience. With a bit more focus on these details, I believe this restaurant could become a solid dining destination in the area.
