I visited Trader John’s in 1974 with my brother-in-law while he was in VT-86 and I had flown up to Pensacola in our VQ-2
EA-3B for a few days. Great place with awesome memorabilia! We also hit Rosy O’Grady’s for a few cold ones!
Long live P’Cola! FLY NAVY!
I remember sitting there in the barbers chair many nights, and especially thursday nights which was nickel beer night. Trader was always there and the girls working as bartenders. Many of my favorite memories in life happened either at Traders' or in Pensacola. Am 47 now. I was 17 and 18 then. Aircrew and Rescue Swimmer School always bring back the memories, but not quite like Trader Jon.
I arrived at NAAS Saufley Field in April, 1953, and was assigned to the Schedules Office, where I worked for three years. In April, 1956, I went tad to mainside to play baseball. Discharged in June, 1956. During those three years, me and lots of friends saw the inside of lots of bars. Trader Jon's was the most well-known and popular bar. On weekends, it was really "jumpin". The first time I visited Trader Jons, I thought it was a wierd place. One got to like the difference and to like the difference.
