We dined at Trivet for lunch to celebrate our anniversary and overall had a really lovely experience. The space itself is stunning, beautifully designed, spacious, elegant, and with high ceilings that make the restaurant feel airy and relaxed. We also appreciated that the tables weren’t packed closely together, which made the experience feel more intimate. One small thing that stood out on arrival was that there were no staff at the entrance to greet us, and we found ourselves looking around for someone to help us. It was a little awkward, especially as a first impression, but once we were seated the experience improved significantly. The real stars of the meal were the entrées and small plates. Every dish was thoughtfully curated and packed with flavour. We’d easily rate them 10/10. We ordered the Beef Tartare, Octopus, Pāua, and Flatbread with Coconut Butter. The octopus was absolutely divine! perfectly tender, not chewy at all, and full of depth and flavour. The pāua was a pleasant surprise and an absolute joy to eat. And the coconut butter? Easily one of the best we’ve had. Unfortunately, the mains didn’t live up to the incredible start. We ordered the Lamb Belly and Wagyu. The lamb belly was particularly underwhelming and felt completely disconnected from the rest of the menu. The Korean-style sauce looked as though it had simply been coated on top, and the accompanying elements were quite bland. It was probably the most disappointing dish of the meal. The wagyu was better but still fairly average in flavour. After such an impressive beginning, we were surprised by how uninspiring the mains were. The broccoli and fries were delicious though, honestly better than the mains. Service was friendly and welcoming, and our waiter was excellent throughout. When I received a dirty water glass, it was replaced immediately without any fuss. However, service did drop off towards the end of the meal. It took a while for plates to be cleared, and after our mains no one returned to clear the table or offer us a dessert menu, so we eventually decided to pay and leave. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily return, especially for the entrées and small plates. Whether we’d order the mains again is another question, but we’d definitely be back to explore more of the menu. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

We had a very lovely dinner at Trivet recently. The food is beautifully presented and delicious, and the team is incredibly friendly and attentive, which made for a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We ordered almost all of the raw and small plates, and they were all very yummy. Our group favorites were definitely the beef tartare and the octopus carpaccio. An unexpected highlight was the BBQ Fried pig ears—an impressive delight that was surprisingly delicious! For the main course, the Wagyu Bavette was juicy, tender, and comes highly recommended. To finish, we tried a couple of desserts. The popcorn semifreddo with salted caramel was our favorite; it’s a unique dish I haven’t tried anywhere else. We also had the hazelnut Tiramisu, though it wasn’t quite what we expected. It was very heavy on the mascarpone and felt a bit too creamy compared to a traditional Italian-style tiramisu. One thing to note is that the service was rather slow, even though there were only a few tables occupied during our visit. If you're planning a night here, I’d suggest allowing at least 3.5 hours to really settle in and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience with some truly standout dishes!
