La peor experiencia gastronómica de toda nuestra luna de miel en Japón. Una estafa. Raciones ridiculas de comida fría y sin sabor. Un lugar que busca atraer el turismo pero en el que el servicio no sabe siquiera explicarte en inglés qué estás comiendo. Menú degustación al módico precio de 65€ (bebidas a parte claro) consistente en 5 platos de postre (a cuál peor), y para terminar dos trozos de sandía y kiwi. Lamentable. Empezamos la cena en la teraza y se puso a llover. Su solución fue alojarnos en una habitación dentro del local, antigua, sucia y mal oliente. Nos fuimos realmente disgustados y se lo hicimos saber a la encargada, que no mostró ningún interés en encontrar una solución o, cómo mínimo, tener el detalle de no cobrarnos los 20 € de las dos cervezas. Haceros un favor y no vayáis a este lugar a cenar. En Kyoto hay muchísima oferta y lugares realmente exquisitos y más económicos.

Do not come here for the food, taste is absolutely trash. One of the worst places to eat in Kyoto. The food was cold and not fresh. I cancelled the course by the second dish and was still 4000 yen for this trash.

I had the pleasure of visiting Tsurusei, and it was an unforgettable experience. This stunning three-story wooden ryokan and auberge, built entirely from cypress, exudes traditional Kyoto charm and elegance. The highlight, of course, was the Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine. Every dish was a masterpiece, crafted with seasonal ingredients and presented so beautifully that I hesitated to take the first bite. The balance of flavors and the delicate seasoning showcased the chef’s expertise and dedication to authenticity. In the summer, the riverside terrace is an absolute must-visit. As one of Japan's largest, it offers breathtaking views of the Kamo River and Higashiyama Mountains while being right in the heart of the city. The serene atmosphere, combined with the delicious food, made for a truly special dining experience. Even as the seasons change, the ambiance of Tsurusei perfectly captures the essence of Kyoto. What also impressed me was the versatility of the establishment. It’s not just a restaurant—it can host weddings, large banquets, and even offers overnight stays in private rooms. The large hall can accommodate up to 300 people, making it perfect for any occasion. Getting there was very convenient, as it’s located right next to Keihan Gojo Station and is easily accessible by bus. Whether you’re visiting Kyoto for the first time or looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, Tsurusei is a place I highly recommend. It’s an ideal blend of culinary artistry, traditional ambiance, and top-tier hospitality. Service: 5
