We were seated promptly and the space is small yet has a nice ambiance so we were able to spend the night talking and eating leisurely without feeling cramped nor having to talk loudly to be heard.
It is a BYOB so we brought a vouvray with us that they provided a chiller for – but they do also have a small selection of wines available at the restaurant in case you forget to bring your own.
Lauren was our server and we started with some crisp crusted baguette with chimichurri – interesting combination but it worked well, very tasty. Lauren was a great server and we certainly would ask for her again when we return.
We shared three appetizers: the salmon crudo, the grilled octopus and the calamari. I personally do not like salmon crudo but I tried it and it was good – we thought the everything seasoning might be a bit too aggressive but in actuality, it was a bit under seasoned for both our palates. It could have used a bit more salt or acid for us, but for most; I am sure it would be perfect.
The octopus was sublime and the calamari tender and surrounded by flavors of the Mediterranean. Both were absolutely delicious.
I ordered the barramundi for my entrée and my partner the salmon which had a pastrami seasoning inspired crust. Both were again, absolutely delicious.
We finished with coffee and we both had the lavender-scented panna cotta with strawberries and a nice crumble. For me, the touch of lavender was perfection, my partner felt it could have been a bit stronger – in any case, we both polished off our respective desserts and we were quite full. Some reviewers have made a comment that the portions were too small but we’re both big eaters and both the appetizer and entrée portions were quite substantial.
Currently, Two Fish offers a 5 course prix fixe menu on Sundays for $32 and that is a fantastic deal and a great way to get a taste of what Chef does so well.
All in all, a wonderful and delicious night.
