Uncommon Luncheonette is a bit off the beaten path as it is a block or two away from Clarendon Blvd. Been to several restaurants on Clarendon and had no idea it was here. It is prominently situated at the corner with an outdoor patio and Diner like setup. The inside is fairly small with maybe 10-15 tables and stool seating at the bar. Perusing the menu and there are many options for breakfast/brunch, sandwiches, soup, salad, etc. My son is feeling breakfast so he goes with the egg & sausage sandwich with fries. The wife wants to go lighter so she orders the Rachel (Turkey on rye). I am looking at either the Roast Beef or the Roast Pork sandwich. I decide on the Roast Pork w/side salad. Food comes out after 5-10 mins and everything looks fresh and made from scratch. Exactly what I'm looking for from a local 'mom & pop' type eatery. The sausage, egg, & cheese is spot on. The sausage must be freshly made from scratch as you can tell by the taste. The Rachel has a nice house sauce with coleslaw to give it a nice punch of flavor. Last but not least I enjoyed the Roast Pork...the broccoli rabe adds a nice crunch and there is a nice jus with onions in the sandwich as well. It's an enjoyable meal...fresh small batch food that is made with care and love...open one up in the Reston area and I'd probably come by on a monthly basis. Ohh...and one last thing...the fries are money...crunchy, not too oily...so good.
