A nice late evening meal. We tried the fried cauliflower app, which was served with sweet chili sauce. The cauliflower was warm and golden, also tossed with fried lemon zest. It all worked, but the chili sauce didn't seem to pair so well. The salad bar was nicely stocked with prepared salads, as well as a decent selection for a garden salad. My Cajun Blackened Swordfish was perfect. Spicy, with a dark crusty, the fresh fish was hearty and flavorful, served atop mashed potatoes and perfectly cook green beans (yes you'll need teeth). The 1/2 roasted duck was also perfectly cooked, with a crispy skin and tender meat, served with a sweet mango chutney that was surprisingly a hit with the GF. Nothing too fancy, just well prepared meals served by friendly waitstaff. Easily a thumbs up.

Our "sure thing" when we want a great dinner out!. We've been enjoying dinners at VR's for decades - As summer visitors and later full time residents, we find ourselves always glad we came. Living on the Cape, there's no shortage of good restaurants - it's part of the charm. Van Rensselaer's is at the top of our favorites list. Seafood dishes are outstanding and the presentations are both imaginative and off-the-chart tasty. Their salad bar is beyond comparison. This is our "go to" when we want to show our guests a really good time and know they'll find themselves wishing they, too, lived near Wellfleet & VR's.

Drove 30 minutes for the breakfast buffet that was advertised in their web page only to be told they no longer serve it. Nice. Also the service sucks and the eggs taste like prison food.
