Head to Sydney’s first Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant, Vecino on Glebe Point Road for a dining experience to remember. With a name meaning ‘neighbours’ in Spanish, this Glebe restaurant oozes a funky vibe of glowing neon signage, exposed brick and graffiti-style artwork, ideal for after-work drinks with friends and memorable meals. Passionate about good food, good music and good vibes, Vecino is the place to find unique tacos, gourmet Korean fried chicken and quirky cocktails; settle in with a Screwbar Ju cocktail and stir-fried spicy pork tacos, with cabbage, pico de gallo, gochujang aioli, sour cream and guacamole. Perhaps salsa picante fried chicken hits the mark, with a serve of chips, while those looking for a venue for their next event can check out the upstairs private party room.

So good! Had the $75 bottomless option. Only 1 server also doing drinks but she was all over it and was at our table before we even thought to call out Prawn and pork tacos, spicy and frozen margs were the best Meal type: Lunch Price per person: A$60–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I recently tried Vecino and honestly, I feel it’s quite overrated. It’s marketed as Mexican–Korean fusion, but I couldn’t really taste either. Just adding a small amount of kimchi doesn’t automatically make a dish taste Korean fusion and in this case, the flavours didn’t come through at all. I ordered the Kimchi Bulgogi Fries, described as seasoned fries loaded with bulgogi beef, sautéed kimchi, mixed cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and gochujang aioli. What I received had chopped tomato instead of pico de gallo, and instead of gochujang aioli, it tasted more like honey mustard. The portion of beef on the fries was also very small, so it didn’t feel “loaded” as advertised. I also ordered the Smoked Bulgogi Beef Tacos, but there was no noticeable smoked flavour. It was served more like overcooked marinated minced beef rather than smoked beef. Again, it came with chopped tomato instead of pico de gallo and only a small amount of guacamole. Overall, the food didn’t match the menu description, and the fusion concept just didn’t translate in flavour. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
