Our kiddie cups were the perfect small treat and we noticed the menu was HUGE! So do stop by as there are plenty of options! My only “complaint” is that I wish they could give a taste of something before having to commit to a new flavor.
Last night at Velvet Cream, my family and I were standing in line to order when a teenager drove a large 4x4 truck over our car in the parking lot. We called the police and they came to take the report for us. There were three officers, Porter, who is a black man, Moore and Parrott, who are both white. Porter was talking with me getting my statement when the owner of the Velvet Cream came running out to us and got in Officer Porter’s face yelling at him for being on HIS property. He demanded the officer leave the property. I intervened and said that there had been an accident on HIS property. He kept getting in the officers face. Officer Porter was upset by this and let him know that the police had business there that they were helping citizens who had been in an accident and he needed to calm down and go back inside. The owner said he didn’t care and kept yelling for him to leave. The white officer, Parrott, came over and tried to calm the owner down at which time he turned on his heal and threw his hand up in disgust and went back in the business. He was very rude to all of us, especially the black cop named Porter. We all were appalled at his behavior. The accident was bad enough that our car could not be driven as it had ripped off the whole front bumper and dented the left front quarter panel and ruined the rim as well. When the tow truck came to tow it, my son in law went to the window where the owner was and politely said, “Hey, I know you are busy but if you wanted to call the police station and apologize, the cops name is Porter.” The owner said he had no plans of apologizing and then got really upset again that the tow truck was at his place of business and he didn’t understand why we couldn’t just leave our wrecked car and take care of it another time because he had a business to run and it was messing that up. He was so rude to my son in law that my son in law then told the owner that we would not be a customer again and the owner replied and I quote “I don’t care, I’ve been here 50 years and I don’t need your business!” Needless to say, none of my family will ever patronize that business again. All three cops were very helpful to both parties of the accident and very professional, especially Officer Porter. We appreciate all the cops do to keep us safe and help us in time of need. I am just outdone with the sarcastic, ungrateful, rude owner of Velvet Cream. I wanted the public to know how we were treated and that he doesn't need his customers business. Everyone knows that it’s hard to get in and out of there with the drive thru and parking lots and for him to act this way toward the cop and toward his patrons is unacceptable! The fact that he didn’t approach the other officers at all is telling to me and he obeyed the white one but stood toe to toe with the black one. He was irate that he was even there. We don’t need this kind of thing in our town especially with all the bad that is happening right now in our nation. There was no reason at all for the owner to approach the cop the way he did. It was scary because he got in the cops face with his hands raised. I tried to intervene and explain I was a patron and what happened but he was clearly more focused on making the black cop leave until he saw the other two white cops there with him. He was not concerned at all if we were okay, anybody hurt or what happened to our vehicles. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. He does not care about his customers at all or all the police do to protect the citizens. We will not be back. We are taking business elsewhere! I'm waiting on him to need the cops one day......
