Cheers to taking a break from all your worries! Fancy #NanciestOfThemAll returning to the same little joint on Richmond Avenue, time after time, the woman who claims "never visit the same place twice". WHY? 1. That phrase only holds true to overseas travel. It's never really bumping or out of this world exciting. Except that one year we celebrated St. Patrick's Day here, and that other time I ran into a friend who had packed the house with her co-workers and family. With only those two exceptions you can count the patrons at a glance. Still what is so special about Velvet Melvin Pub? There's a song, that really tells my age... Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows Your name. No matter when I've come, same friendly folks at the bar and same friendly ladies behind the bar. Someone always hops up and hugs me. I'm not a regular but I know Ann makes the best miches, don't let anyone but her make them. The shot of the month is cheap, flavorful, and strong. I like to have the nachos. The order is large and should be shared but what you will find difficult is finding a friend that agrees on the type of cheese. I prefer shredded at the Velvet and my friends like the nacho. Word is, they make a pretty good pizza too. Don't judge them by their looks, a little on the run down side, but it has a nice outdoor patio, and plenty of seating indoors. Not first date friendly, as I would not be impressed but hanging out with those you are fond of on a regular basis yes! Cheers!
