Vera Pizzeria is a restaurant and cocktail bar with a very cool vibe. I think calling it a "pizzeria" can be deceiving. While they do have delicious flatbread pizzas on homemade dough, it's so much more than that. My friend was confused when she wanted a good cocktail and I suggested Vera. "A pizza place? What?" is often the reaction when trying to describe this restaurant. It's really an upscale pizzeria. It's dark and romantic with candlelight and a warm interior. My favorite part is the cocktails. Vera was the first bar to bring the pre-prohibition craft cocktails to Buffalo. It's memorizing to watch the "mixologists" create these masterful concoctions. Even if you're someone who prefers to stick to beer or a whiskey straight up, you can't help but appreciate the time and effort that goes into each drink. It really is an art and I suggest you go out of your comfort zone and try something new as each drink is guaranteed delicious! The menu is small but a great combination of your classic favorites with some fun creations. Definitely Italian inspired menu, of course the pizzas are wonderful. Fresh toppings, cheesey and perfectly crispy. The staff has always been great; A main reason for the 5-stars. I've been here on busy nights, slow nights, late at night, even ordered food shortly before the kitchen closed... but no matter what, the bartenders have always been friendly and accommodating. You can really tell when someone enjoys their job and is happy to be there. P.S. get 'em talking! I've learned a lot about types of whiskey, history of drinks, current trends in the bar scene, you name it! Definitely some passionate people working here.
