I usually have a good experience here, but today I did not. We came for breakfast and we had a good meal; and the service was excellent. My husband and I came in the restaurant. This tall man with his hair and facial hair cut at the same length wearing regular clothes not a uniform and cologne that makes the hair in your nose singe. I’m assuming he is management and he just grabbed two menus and sat us down after throwing the menus on the table. He didn’t greet us in a friendly manner at all. There was no, “Welcome to Village Inn!” Or “Hello!” Or anything! Just, “This way.”, like it was annoying him to do his job. The server was fantastic and the food was delicious! I saw they had strawberry/banana pie for sale. I wanted to get a slice, but we were doing errands and didn’t want it to melt in the car. When we were done, we went back to the restaurant so I could get a slice of the pie. Again, he seemed to be annoyed. When I do a to-go order from anywhere, I do not tip. Tips are for food servers and bartenders and he was neither. He saw I pushed “No Tip” and walked away. I waited for a few, and he came back with nothing in hand. Another customer walked in, and she told him she was there for an order she did online. He looked at her aggravated, grabbed a bag off the table and handed it to her aggressively. She gave him a dirty look and walked off. He then looked at me, then went into the pie cabinet, grabbed a pie and went to the kitchen. He came back with a bag and gave it to me. I left. Now, I live far away from that restaurant and when I go there it’s a treat for me. I grew up in the time when there was a Village Inn everywhere. Now they’re scarce and that’s the closest one to me. That guy cut me slice so small, I didn’t even get a bit of the whipped cream in the middle of the pie. (Shown in picture). I paid almost $6 for a pie and could’ve gotten a donut from Circle K bigger than that pie for less. This guy needs to understand that the hospitality industry isn’t just the experience you gained, but he needs to learn true hospitality of greeting and showing his customers some kindness. If he doesn’t like to do those things, he needs to get out of that business. Village Inn, there is not many of your restaurants. Please have a talk with this guy and retrain him. I was in the restaurant industry for 12 years. I don’t think anyone should endure his hostility. Thank you for hearing me out. BTW, I ate my small pie and it was delicious!
