My wife and I were in Valka and decided to have lunch at Walk Café. We were very pleasantly surprised! A few years ago, when we visited Valka, we had to go across the border to Estonia to find a good place for lunch. This time we discovered Walk Café, located right on the Valka–Valga border, but on the Latvian side. It is a modern café with a nice interior and a very large menu – sushi, pizzas and many other dishes. Usually, such a big menu makes me a little worried, because when a place offers everything, sometimes nothing is really good. But here it was a wonderful surprise – everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. There is also a summer terrace, but it was completely full, so we had to sit inside. It was lunchtime on a weekend and all the tables were occupied, but the service was still friendly and quite fast. My wife ordered sushi and was a little sceptical at first, but the sushi was really fresh and very tasty. I had a vegetarian poke bowl with falafel, which was also very good. For me, the biggest surprise was the sweet potato fries. I liked the way they were served, so we ordered one portion to share. They were absolutely delicious! The coffee was good too, and my wife really enjoyed her cocktail. I definitely recommend Walk Café if you are visiting Valka. Next time I am in Valka, I won’t be looking for a place to eat in Estonia – I will go straight to Walk! Great tasting fish with an awesome sauce, and the chips were spot on! Really bummed out by how many bones were left in the fish, though. Had to be super careful with every bite. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €15–20
