We came to enjoy a nice brunch; we chose this spot because close friends who live nearby recommended it, so we decided to give this new place a try. When we arrived, the restaurant was literally at 20% capacity—there were so many empty tables—yet the staff at the reception desk seemed annoyed by our arrival; they were busy filming themselves and uploading content to the internet (like a TikTok). They asked if we had a reservation; when we said no, they immediately told us there would be a 50-minute wait, even though the restaurant was clearly empty. I’m not sure if this is an issue with staff organization, the servers, or the restaurant's capacity management, but it was literally empty, and we were told it would be 50 minutes or we could go to the bar. The experience at the bar was good; the server working there that day was quite friendly and took great care of us. Overall, the food was good and the drinks were high quality, but the reason for this rating is the experience we had from the very moment we arrived. I feel that many places here in Washington aren't accustomed to the concept of hospitality in the true sense of the word. First impressions are always important—they matter a great deal to the people and customers spending their money at these establishments. I think that sometimes, because employees receive a steady paycheck, they don't prioritize hospitality; they feel their jobs are secure regardless of daily sales or whether customers leave happy. My recommendation would be for them to pay a bit more attention to the staff who greet guests and diners, as that interaction creates the first impression and sets the tone for whether the experience will be positive or negative. En general, la comida estuvo bien y los tragos de buena calidad pero lo que hace que ponga esta calificación es la experiencia que se recibe desde el primer momento que llegas creo que muchos de los lugares de aquí de Washington no están acostumbrados al tema de hospitalidad en muchos de los sentidos. La primera impresión siempre es importante la primera impresión cuenta mucho para las personas y los clientes que gastan su dinero en los establecimientos, creo que a veces las personas que trabajan como reciben un sueldo continuo no fomentan mucho el tema de hospitalidad y ellos tienen su trabajo seguro no importando las ventas diarias o que los clientes se vayan felices, sería una recomendación que les haría poner un poco más atención a las personas que reciben a sus huéspedes y a sus comensales en el restaurant porque esa es la primera impresión que se llevan, y la primera entrada a una experiencia positiva o negativa. Delicious Food, But Service Needs Improvement. After taking a walk at the park, we decided to check out Water Table Restaurant. We were excited to try the place, and when we walked in, we immediately sat down on the patio. We expected to be helped fairly quickly, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Other customers came in after us and were assisted first. They received water and had their orders taken while we were still waiting. Eventually, another server came over to us. She was a very pleasant lady and was friendly when she took our order, so we appreciated her attitude. Unfortunately, after taking our order and bringing out our food, she never came back to check on us. I wanted some hot sauce with my breakfast, but there was no one checking on our table, so I ended up eating without it. It’s a small thing, but it’s those little details and the follow-up service that make a difference, especially at a restaurant like this. The food itself was delicious, and honestly, that’s what saved this review from being a 1-star experience. We really enjoyed our meal, but the lack of attentiveness from the server was disappointing and did not feel professional for this type of restaurant. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback because the food has the potential to bring customers back, but the service needs to match the quality of the food.
