We just tried Wens Kitchen and it is hands down the best Chinese food I've had in Portland. Awesome North Portland location with Arbor Lodge brewing and plenty of seating and television for the World Cup or any other sports! The owner was so gracious and positive and we'll definitely make it a regular place to dine. Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A Chef’s Review: Why Wen’s Kitchen is a Portland Gem As a trained chef, I owe this amazing couple a long-overdue review. Honestly, I’m usually not a "food cart guy," but **Wen’s Kitchen** completely won me over. First Impressions The cart is run by a wonderful husband-and-wife team who might just be the nicest people I’ve ever met in the food industry. If you eat at carts often, you know the owners can sometimes look a bit worn down by the grind—but not this duo. They are pure sunshine. Even better? The cart is absolutely spotless. Portland weather can be incredibly harsh on food carts, often leaving them looking a bit beat up and crusty. Wen’s Kitchen is beautifully maintained, clean, and welcoming. Act Two: The Menu Instead of overwhelming you with a massive 50-item menu, they focus on a curated list of absolute bangers. They feature all the classic Thai fan-favorites, from perfectly executed noodles to rich curries. They also throw in some incredible Asian-fusion items like Banh Mi, Wonton Dumplings in Curry, and their chicken wings (which are an absolute **must-try**). As a chef, I don't need a million options—I just want high quality and consistency. They have absolutely perfected the staples here, while still keeping things exciting with their weekly specials. Act Three: Price & Portions While the prices lean just a *hair* higher than your average budget cart, they are worth every single penny for two major reasons: 1. Premium Quality: You can taste the freshness of the high-quality ingredients in every single bite. 2. Generous Portions: The portions are massive! I routinely eat half for lunch and get to take the rest home for a second meal. You are absolutely getting your dollar's worth. The Final Act You truly owe it to yourself to give Wen’s Kitchen a chance. Bring your friends and treat yourself to a fantastic meal. The owners genuinely care about your experience—they’ll chat you up, make sure you love your food, and happily explain how they craft their dishes if you ask. Their passion for what they do shines through everything. Pro Tip: Tell them "Ed" sent you for a little extra love! Grab a cold beer or your drink of choice from the Arbor Lodge Tap House property right there, sit back, and enjoy. You won’t be disappointed. Thursday are busy because it's Trivia night..Apparently Trivia is a big thing in PDX, as I'm learning Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes Vegetarian options: They can make any dish with Tofu instead of Meat. Just don't get all Portlandia and ask them to extract gluten from a sauce or if they have non-animal dairy in their food. Take that business someplace else...lol..if that were the case it would've been stated early in my review. The can get super creative but they're not going to curate a new menu for you on the spot. Wen's Kitchen is now in Arbor Lodge at the Arbor Beer Lodge's food cart pod's. Walking by the menu caught my eye because it says "no substations", I love that because it means we are confident in our menu. I had the Ginger Black Pepper Beef, so good, I mean really good. Also we ordered the Spring Rolls, this is a meal in itself, extremely tasty and very different from other spring rolls I have ever had. I am happy they are here because I live just around the corner and I can tell I will eat here regularly, Need I say more, Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
