Have frequented this place for years and it sits atop the list of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the region. Everything is quite delicious from the vegetables to the bao, noodles, and meat dishes. My only advice: come with friends because you WILL want to order so many things from the menu. The staff are friendly and the owner is a great host. I have always been accommodated for a walk in party of 2 but, seating can be limited so plan ahead and reserve if you have a larger party. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Really loved this place. They have multiple gluten free options on the menu, but the notable one is the gluten free noodles - they taste just like regular udon noodles which can be so hard to find. The pickled radish and pear appetizer was also very refreshing. Sadly none of the desserts are gf, but looked delicious!

We started with the LǎonǍi Potatoes, which were twice-cooked potatoes tossed in a 9-spice mix. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and the spice mix was flavorful without being too overwhelming. For our main courses, we had the Spicy Fried Chicken Bao, the Beef Short Rib Dumplings, and the Dòufǔ Burrata Salad. The Spicy Fried Chicken Bao were filled with a juicy and flavorful chicken thigh that was perfectly cooked. The pickled red onion and chili oil added a nice kick of heat, and the whipped tofu sauce was a delicious and creamy accompaniment. The Beef Short Rib Dumplings were my favorite dish of the night. The dumplings were perfectly cooked and the beef short rib was incredibly tender and flavorful. The beef jus added a nice richness to the dumplings, and the pickled red onion and crispy garlic and sesame gave them a nice crunch. The Dòufǔ Burrata Salad was a refreshing and light dish. The silken tofu was creamy and smooth, and the heirloom tomato was juicy and flavorful. The dark Zhejiang vinegar and sesame oil dressing was the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and the Thai basil added a nice touch of freshness. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Yunnan By Potomac Noodle House. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in Alexandria. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30
