After a long, weary visit to Vatican City we were looking for somewhere nearby for lunch. We were considering a large restaurant a few hundred yards from St Peter’s Square when a street tout said to try a small nearby family-run restaurant instead of the “microwave meals” place we were looking at.
Hey ho, we’re on holiday, why not give it a go: the worst that could reasonably happen is that we get ripped off for crappy food.
Turns out we made a great choice as the restaurant was full of Italian families having a long late lunch.
There were four of us and we had...
A large salami pizza
A large marguerite pizza
Spaghetti carbonara
Penne al arrabiatta
Bruschetta con pomodorro
2 diet cokes
2 sprites
2 half litres of draft peronni
And a very yummy bread basket
The bill was 58 Euro all in
Great simple food, excellent friendly device, they spoke English and didn’t mind our pitiful attempts at Italian.
A great find.
