Last week I visited and had some brunch with my friend and a drink. When we asked for the bill, on our receipt was £8 worth of extra items we had not ordered. I pointed this out and the waiter took them off the receipt and I said that this was okay it seemed to be a mistake.
However, a week later I have again visited with a couple of friends and we all had something to eat and a drink each. We waited a long time for our food after receiving our drinks. When we were finished, it again took them a long time to get the bill. As there were four of us my friend paid the lot without looking at the receipt so we could pay him back afterwards to avoid confusion. We thought £41 was really steep considering we had ordered fairly cheap. I had only had toast and a latte, and my friends had small amounts to eat and a half pint of squash each.
We asked to look at the bill and we found that they had added a large mocha, an extra squash, a pint of lemonade and a pot of tea to the order. It was over £10 worth of stuff. When we pointed this out, it took 25 minutes for the waitress to sort it out. She came back with a whole load of coins as a refund and we said that what she had given us wasn’t enough, given what we had been charged for. She went away again and took a long time to bring back a couple more coins. We had still been overcharged but as we had to wait so long for our refund we gave up and left.
I find it weird that this has happened twice over the past week in very similar ways to me. I think the zinc owners have a gorgeous cafe with good food and you really need to make sure your waiters know exactly what the tables have ordered and know how to refund items properly.
