Sometimes the most modest and hidden places have the best food. This is one of those. Not exactly a destination restaurant for Westerners, but we were staying nearby. It's really just a counter that you walk up to. At first, the trash strewn area outside did not inspire me with confidence that the food would be tasty or safe to eat. But the bustling business that they do indicated that it was a favorite among locals. The falafel sandwiches are delicious. I recommend getting them plain with tahini and skipping the added greens. The service was fast and the woman behind the counter was very kind, although I couldn't understand a word she said. The signboard menu is all in Arabic, but there are pictures so I guess you could point at what you want. The Egyptian people are so friendly and most know some English. They can help you out. As an obvious American tourist, I think they were a little surprised. There's no place to sit down and eat because it's a take out. My entourage happened to be staying in the building next door.
